Have You Done These Simple Tricks With Your Social Media Profiles?

Creating social media profiles helps a lot in establishing your brand online. But how come people haven’t found you or your company profile yet?

Here’s a little trick that will help bolster your online marketing campaign.

Make your social profile URL user friendly.

This is a no-brainer actually. You know that this will not only help your target customers find you easily, but also help improve your search visibility. However, I still see a lot of users neglect this simple branding technique. I can’t help but wonder how many opportunities have been missed because of this.

There are a lot of blogs that have covered this topic before, but they are general and only focus on one social media website at a time. Below, you can find tutorials on how to personalise your Facebook, Linkedin and Google Plus profiles. We won’t cover Twitter, because it automatically generates your username in your profile URL, so it saves precious time to work on your other social media accounts.

How to personalise your LinkedIn profile URL

How do you make your profile look like this?

  1. Go to your profile
  2. Scroll down and look for Public Profile
  3. Edit the URL, change the default numbers set by LinkedIn to your name

How to personalise your Facebook profile URL

  1. Log in to your Facebook account
  2. Click on Account Settings
  3. Edit your username
  4. Save

To edit your Facebook Page:

  1. Go to your page
  2. Click About (below your profile photo)
  3. Click the Basic Information
  4. Edit your username

Bonus Trick:

Now if you have a page, you probably want people to click a link leading directly to your website, right? Unfortunately Facebook doesn’t have an option where you can display your link on the front page. Instead, edit your about info and add your website link as follows.

  1. Go to your page
  2. Click About.(below your profile photo)
  3. Click the Basic Information
  4. Edit About
  5. Save

How to personalise your Google Plus profile URL

Actually Google doesn’t have this feature yet and they may not anytime soon. The reason for this is because; Google doesn’t want spammers to have any indication about your Google mail. If you have a Google account, you can easily create a Google Plus account because it is already preset by Google. The idea is, they want you to use their products by using just one account only. So if you don’t want to expose your personal Google mail, you can create another one for your Google Plus account.

By using gplus.to, you can personalise your Google Plus URL.

So instead of this,https://plus.google.com/105835842956371497183/, you can refer your friends to this link, gplus.to/danielthorley

Simply add your name or nickname and add your Google ID to get a shortlink.

So, have you polished your social profile URLs yet? Its better do it now and level up your branding campaign.

Finally, if you have tried this idea, have you noticed any significant changes to your business?

Great post, and if you can’t or are unwilling to do all of these tricks there are various  social media services out there that can help build your audience or at least target a more niche category.
